Walkthrough
- Speaking with Gumbah will grant you the key item Weapon training guide as well as the Sword of Trials. You will need to break the latent on the Sword of Trials before completing the rest of the quest.
- Breaking the Latent
- You must accumulate 300 points by using the Sword of Trials to do Weapon Skills and Skillchains on monsters that are at least Easy Prey.
- A stand-alone Weapon Skill and opening a Skillchain are both worth one point.
- Closing a level 1 Skillchain is worth two points.
- Closing a level 2 Skillchain is worth three points.
- Closing a level 3 Skillchain is worth five points.
- You will know when the latent is broken if its bonus stats disappear when you un-equip and re-equip the Sword of Trials. You can also check and see if the elemental bonuses have disappeared from your stats.
- Trade the Sword of Trials back to Gumbah. This will give you the key item Map to the Annals of Truth. You will be instructed to travel to Western Altepa Desert.
- Head to Western Altepa Desert by any means possible; the fastest way is likely going to be catching a Teleport-Altep from a White Mage. Take a chocobo to (E-9). This is where the ??? is to spawn the NM.
- This fight is against Maharaja, a tiger. It is weak to Fire and Lightning attacks. Once you kill it, re-examine the ??? to receive the key item Annals of Truth.
- Go back and speak with Gumbah to receive your reward.
