A Scholar demonstrates usage of the White Grimoire

During the Crystal War, these military tacticians often served as high-ranking officers in allied forces across Vana'diel. Extensive knowledge of ancient martial theory granted them the ability to wield dual schools of magic, between which they would alternate depending on the situation at hand.

Scholar Overview

Strengths

• Utilizes the mysterious Grimoire, a powerful tome of magic that allows a player to not only draw upon high level white magic and black magic, but enhance them with secret Light Arts and Dark Arts

• Ability to manipulate casting time, cost, and range using techniques known as Stratagems

• Ability to control weather using spells and inflict powerful DoT spells known as the Helices

• Learns the most powerful regen spells and has the highest regen potency of any job.

• Has the ability Sublimation, which allows a player to store MP for later use

• Can reach A- in all magic skills, depending on the Arts used.

• Can easily change between healing or nuking roles depending on the situation

Weaknesses

• Cannot utilize the full potential of both classes of magic at the same time, unless Tabula Rasa is used.

• Does not have native Magic Attack Bonus or Magic Defense Bonus traits

• Does not have native access to Enfeebling Magic with the exception of Sleep, [[Sleep II], and Dispel

• Cannot reach high skill caps like BLMs and RDMs are able to reach.

Acquisition

Scholar is acquired by completing the quest A Little Knowledge.

Requires Wings of the Goddess expansion pack.

• The two shades of the mystic tome, the White and Black Grimoires, can each be called upon by using the respective abilities, Light Arts and Dark Arts.
