Crit rate testing

Using Kenkonken on the test server:

If I'm not just getting unlucky, this would put Stringing Pummel's 100TP crit rate boost around +35%. --Byrthnoth 19:29, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

I did some more testing today, and I don't think my original results were correct (somehow). I went out against Bluffalo and got a 300TP non-crit with Razed Ruins on, which indicates less than +45% Crit rate at 300TP. I doubt it would scale with less than +10% crit rate between 100 and 300TP. This is a difficult WS to test because the first hit damage is extra low. I don't know how much more I'll play around with it.

I was hoping to find out whether or not it has an attack penalty, but Bluffalo have Critical Defense Bonus so I'm not sure my results mean anything. I got damages between 377 and 466 against EM Bluffalo with 507 attack. There was no obvious plateau for 1 pDIF. I had 85+51 STR and 79+90 VIT with 409 H2H skill and a level 99 Kenkonken, with Razed Ruins on and no other source of critical damage gear.

So 1.6>Ratio>1.45, but it's also shifted due to Critical Defense Bonus so the real ratio could be higher than that. That seems weirdly high given what my Ratio should be. I tried to look for my maximum melee hit against a monster near an EM /check in the log and the highest I found was 257, which would be consistent with ~2.1 max crit pDIF, which does fit the normal Ratio. So it is possible that Stringing Pummel also gets a cRatio multiplier? --Byrthnoth 03:24, 5 May 2012 (EDT)

Looking at this data again now that we know a little more about Critical Defense Bonus, it seems the real range of Ratios for WS is .87~1.3, which includes the base value. There's no evidence of a strong attack bonus and the maximum possible attack bonus would be 32% while the maximum possible penalty would be 11%. It's likely unmodified. --Byrthnoth 01:36, 14 January 2013 (EST)

The above values fit 64% combined mods and 0.75 fTP perfectly. They do not fit 65% mods and 0.75 fTP. They don't fit either of the adjacent 1/16 points very well at all. --Byrthnoth 20:29, 3 February 2013 (EST)

More Crit Rate Testing

--Byrthnoth 21:43, 3 February 2013 (EST)

Looking back over my logs, I got a non-crit about half an hour after I stopped the first case. Somehow I missed it when I was doing it, but the non-crit only did 153 damage against EP monsters in Abyssea - La Theine so I guess it emphasizes the problem with doing this testing in the first place. Still, I think it's safe to say the 100% crit rate is <15%. --Byrthnoth 12:19, 4 February 2013 (EST)
